LAUDERDALE LAKES, FLA. (WSVN) - One person is dead, one person was taken to the hospital, and one person was detained after a shooting in Lauderdale Lakes, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at Carefree Cove Mobile Home Park, located along the 3200 block of Northwest 37th Street, Sunday morning.
BSO deputies said that they arrived at the scene and located a man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported the patient to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Deputies said that they also learned that a second victim who also suffered gunshot wounds had self-transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
One person was detained for questioning as well, according to officials.
A witness said that she heard gunshots while inside her home.
“It was real loud, it was a really big thing out here. I don’t know, I was upstairs in the room, and I just heard the gunshots, and I heard two people got hurt,” she said. “It’s a tragedy. I send my condolences to the families of the people that were wounded and injured. Nobody deserves to go through that, and I hope they catch whoever did it.”
7News cameras captured investigators at the scene, where they taped off sections of the street with crime scene tape.
Police K-9s were also present and helped detectives search for clues.
BSO Homicide and Crime Scene units are now investigating the incident.
