Local:

Out forecast is looking great today South Florida. We have a well established breeze off of the ocean and that will keep conditions feeling refreshing along the coast and help drive in any sea breeze showers inland and favoring Southwest Florida. Overall, rain chances are typical through Saturday.

Over the long holiday weekend, we will have a stronger breeze build due to a disturbance we are watching and waiting to see if it develops to the Northeast of the Bahamas.

The National Hurricane Center is stating that it could form into a tropical or subtropical system by Friday as it moves toward the Southeast United States between Georgia and North Carolina on Memorial Day. Right now, it has a high chance to develop of 80% through the next 5 days.

What does this mean for us? If this disturbance remains disorganized, we could see more rain starting Sunday. If it gets well-organized, we will be on the drier side.

If it grows enough to get classified, it will be given the name of Bonnie. Back in January we had an out of season rare storm form near the Azores. It was named Alex.

The official start of the hurricane season is about a week away and our special “Surviving a Storm” airs tomorrow night at 8 pm. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to get helpful tips on what to do before, during and after a storm.

Keep it tuned to your Storm Station!
