WSVN — He was a family man and a well-liked business owner, but one day someone walked into his car dealership and shot him down. As Patrick Fraser tells us on tonight’s Out for Justice, Miami-Dade detectives are still trying to find out who killed Vitaly Kardash.

A lot of people are good people. Good, honest, hardworking people like Vitaly Kardash.

Irina Kardash: “Simply the best. The best man that is out there.”

Irina and Vitaly were married for 18 years.

Irina Kardash: “He was very funny, very cheerful. He loved people, people loved him. Just a great person.”

A great husband, a great father.

Brenden Kardash: “He was a very fun-loving man. He cared about his family a lot.”

One more thing about Vitaly: Sadly, he’s now the late Vitaly Kardash.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Wilbert Sanchez: “It was early morning of July 14, 2009. Mr. Kardash was at his used car dealership, which he owned, and he was discovered shot after about 9:30 a.m. by some coworkers.”

Vitaly owned Affordable Cars at Northwest 97th Street and Seventh Avenue in Miami. Irina worked with him and was headed in when a friend called her.

Irina Kardash: “He said that Vitaly was shot, that he was killed. So I just asked him again and again. I probably asked him 50 times and asked him to give the phone to Vitaly, and he was like, ‘Irina, I can’t. Vitaly’s dead.'”

Some employees found him in his office. They had talked to him earlier when they came in to work.

Wilbert Sanchez: “No one saw anyone come into the dealership because most of the employees were at the rear of the business, and they had the air compressors going to work on the vehicles. It makes a lot of noise, and they didn’t hear anything.”

The dealership is on busy Northwest Seventh Avenue, but no one saw anything. Vitaly wasn’t robbed. Nothing was disturbed. Just a cold-blooded murder by a killer who walked in the front door, and Vitaly had to buzz them to let them in.

Wilbert Sanchez :”Maybe he thought it was a customer, but he had to have let the person in. Maybe it was an acquaintance of his.”

Detective Sanchez has to speculate, because five years after Vitaly was murdered, the case is cold.

Irina Kardash: “Please call the police if you know anything. Come forward and let us know so we can have some kind of a closure.”

Brenden was 12 when he lost his father. He is 17 now, and hoping for one thing.

Brenden Kardash: “If I could ask for anything in the world, it would be for somebody to speak up and any knowledge they have on the subject, to at least give me and my family some kind of light on the situation.”

A cold-blooded murder of a man who was loved by everyone who knew him, except one person.

Wilbert Sanchez: He was a real good guy. He had a family. There’s no reason we can find out why this could have happened to him.”

If you know anything about the murder of Vitaly Kardash, it’s simple. Just pick up the phone and give Miami-Dade Police what they want, and give a cold-blooded killer what they deserve.

And if you have lost a loved one and want to remind people you are still out for justice, give us a call. With this Out for Justice, I’m Patrick Fraser, 7News.
