NEW YORK (AP) — Yoenis Cespedes hit a tiebreaking, two-run double off Fernando Rodney in the eighth inning, and the New York Mets overcame a six-run deficit to beat the Miami Marlins 8-6 Monday and extend their winning streak to five.
Miami took a 6-0 lead against Matt Harvey, who lasted 3 2/3 innings in his second straight early exit and made a throwing error that led to three runs. But the Mets scored in every inning from the fourth through the eighth and overcame two calls that originally went their way but were overturned upon video review.
Travis d’Arnaud and Curtis Granderson started the comeback with solo homers off Tom Koehler. Jeurys Familia pitched the ninth for his major league-leading 29th save, converting his 45th consecutive regular-season opportunity dating to last August. Miami put runners at the corners with one out before Chris Johnson grounded into a double play.
Outhit 17-13 in the late-afternoon start, the Mets mounted their largest comeback in a victory since rallying from a 7-1, seventh-inning deficit in an 8-7 win at Washington last Sept. 8.
With the score 6-all, d’Arnaud reached on an infield single to start the eighth against Rodney (0-2), who was acquired from San Diego last week and had allowed just one earned run this season.
Pinch-hitter Juan Lagares sacrificed and Neil Walker drew a walk before Cespedes lined the ball into right-center for his second double and third hit of the game.
Ichiro Suzuki pinch hit against Hansel Robles leading off the top of the eighth and doubled for his 2,990th hit. J.T. Realmuto, who had hits in his first four at-bats and seven in a row going back to Sunday, walked after fouling off a pair of bunt attempts, but Martin Prado bunted into a double play. Jerry Blevins (3-0) struck out Christian Yelich with Realmuto on third.
New York closed to 6-4 in the sixth against Kyle Barraclough when d’Arnaud reached on a bases-loaded infield single and pinch-hitter Kelly Johnson grounded into a run-scoring double play.
Walker drew a walk from David Phelps leading off the seventh and went to third on Cespedes’ double. James Loney hit an RBI grounder and Wilmer Flores tied it with a sacrifice fly, one day after going 6 for 6 with two homers as the Mets completed a four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs.
Harvey matched his season high by allowing 11 hits and gave up six runs — five earned — as his ERA rose to 4.86. He is 0-3 in his last six starts and 1-6 in his past 10. He stood in front of the mound with a disgusted expression after his error, then sat in the dugout with a towel over his left shoulder, downcast, after Erik Goeddel replaced him.
The bottom three batters in the Marlins’ lineup went 5 for 6 against Harvey. Adeiny Hechavarria had a long RBI double, and Koehler poked an opposite-field single to right for his second big league RBI. That made him 14 for 166 (.084) in his career, including 3 for 3 against Harvey.
Koehler fouled out against Harvey in the fourth, possibly ignoring a bunt sign with two on and no outs. Harvey threw wildly past the plate on Prado’s one-out comebacker, and Yelich’s two-run single chased the struggling right-hander.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said there’s no reason to pick the 42-year-old Suzuki for a final celebratory All-Star appearance. “He just talked about playing `till he’s 50, so he’s got another eight years,” Mattingly said. “So maybe like when he’s 49 we can put him in the All-Star Game.”

Mets LHP Steven Matz (7-3) starts Tuesday night against Miami LHP Wei-Yin Chen (4-3). Matz is 0-2 in six starts since winning seven in a row. Left-handed batters are hitting .328 (21 for 64) against Chen.
