PHILADELPHIA (WSVN) — Signs of change are underway with all-gender bathrooms in use at the Democratic National Convention. Those in attendance expressed their reactions to 7News.
All-gender bathrooms are restrooms that men and women can both use. Democrats like to think of themselves as open-minded and progressive, so they installed one.
“I don’t have an issue with it. I’m just using the bathroom,” said one female DNC attendee. “‘Oh, yeah, he’s not a woman.’ OK.”
A male attendee feels like he has to get used to it. “This is as insane as anything I’ve ever seen,” he said.
One woman seemed unfazed by the inclusive bathroom. “I don’t think it’s strange. I think it’s something you have to get used to,” she said. “At the DNC, there were gonna be all-gendered bathrooms.”
“As far as I know, there hasn’t been any problem around it,” said another male DNC attendee.
Others are very accepting of the stall. “Well, if that’s the bathroom, that’s the bathroom,” said attendee Steve Wimberly. “This is the first time I’ve ever walked into an all-gender bathroom. It was a little bit of a surprise.”
“Gender neutral bathrooms are used in a lot of places around the country,” said another man in the restroom.
One woman would prefer if men and women used separate bathrooms. “I hate to say this, but the men are slobs,” she said. “Leave the seats up, they don’t flush the toilet.”
Regular men and women restrooms are available for use at the Convention as well.
