MIAMI (WSVN) - Police are searching for two armed robbers who ambushed a business owner and a group of employees leaving a Miami dollar store.

Surveillance video shows the victims leaving a Family Dollar near Northwest 17th Avenue and 33rd Street on Aug. 22, when two armed men come from around the corner, guns drawn.

Shopper Michael Sanchez said he wasn’t surprised of a robbery in this Miami community.

“I mean, look at the whole neighborhood. You see?” he said. “No, no.”

In the video, employees could be seen locking up the store when the criminals held them at gunpoint.

Miami Police said the two subjects managed to get away with a phone and gold necklace.

“Well they should have better security here,” Sanchez said. “You hardly ever see police around here.”

Both subjects are believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30 years old.

Wandy Romero who is a frequent shopper said she thinks it’s up to the community to step in.

“The people that live within the community need to do something to care for the community and try to make it better,” Romero said.

If you have any information on this robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
