MIAMI (WSVN) — Broadway hopefuls around South Florida fled to Miami, Thursday, for the open auditions of “On Your Feet!” the musical.
Producers of “On Your Feet!,” a musical based on the lives of hometown superstars Emilio and Gloria Estefan, are searching for the next leading stars of the show.
Many local aspiring Broadway stars gathered at Florida International University, Thursday, for the casting call to portray a story most of them can relate to. “I’ve been born and raised here,” said Lauren Lopez, who’s auditioning. “I know what that’s like to grow up here and to feel that music in you and to want to bring that Cuban heritage to America, so their story really hits home.”
The musical has taken Broadway by storm since its debut last November and was even nominated for a Tony award for best choreography.
