CORAL GABLES, FLA. (WSVN) - A man impersonating a Coral Gables Police officer sexually assaulted a woman, Sunday morning.

According to police, a man was caught by surveillance cameras telling a female security guard who is stationed at The Collection, an automobile dealership in Coral Gables, that he was an officer.

“He asked her, ‘Where’s the Metrorail Station?'” said Coral Gables Police officer Kelly Denham, “So as any normal person would, they want to help people, and she engages in conversation with him. As she starts to walk away, that’s when he says, ‘I’m a police officer. Turn around and put your hands on the car. I’m going to pat you down.'”

The man told the woman to lean against a parked car so he could forcefully pat her down, according to police. Then, he robbed her and exposed himself to her.

After exposing himself, he dropped the items and took off.

Police have released a sketch of this phony thief. If you have any information on this impostor, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
