MIAMI (WSVN) - A high school baseball coach has been accused of allowing his players to haze and allegedly making them keep quiet.

The Cooper City baseball coach, Chris Delgado, has since been fired, and several baseball players are now being investigated after a player said he was hazed.

The incident is said to have happened when the team went to a tournament in Altamonte Springs, in March. According to a police report, while the team was at a hotel, a 16-year-old player said five teammates came into his room, held him down and pulled down his pants. He said they then pulled down his underwear, but he was able to fight them off.

The player also said, on another night, the same group of teens sodomized a player with their fingers. A third player, according to a police report, was sodomized with a Gatorade bottle.

One of the teens told Delgado, and, according to the report, Delgado responded by saying, “It’s just baseball, keep it to yourself.”

The parents then went to the school and told the assistant principal.

The Broward County School Board later released a statement that read in part, “The district takes any allegation involving student safety seriously. District officials are aware and looking into the allegations.”

Delgado is not a county employee, but he does receive a stipend. He will not be returning as coach in the upcoming school year.

The alleged victim has not returned to the school. According to the police report, when the players learned that he reported the incident, they retaliated and texted him, “Why you being a [expletive] hiding from [expletive] starting stuff,” among other texts.

The player’s mother said he will not return to the school. Due to the incident reportedly happening outside of Broward County, Altamonte Springs is investigating.
