MIAMI (WSVN) - The family of a teen killed in a Liberty City drive-by shooting are pleading for the public’s help.

Eighteen-year-old Antquinisha Flowers was killed and her cousin was injured after, officials said, both teens were shot in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami, last Thursday.

Flowers’ mother, Shannell Flowers, said she hasn’t eaten in nearly a week since she lost her daughter who, relatives told 7News, was not believed to be the intended target. “Losing weight, can’t sleep, keep crying,” said Flowers. “I just miss my baby. I can’t talk to her no more.”

Flowers was with her 17-year-old cousin outside of her aunt’s house, near Northwest 66th Street and 12th Avenue, before 9 p.m., Thursday night. According to police, a car drove by and shots were fired.

“She is not no bad person at all,” said Flowers. “She just was sitting out the door, headphones on, and then a car ride by shooting, shoot my baby in her chest. I can’t take all this.”

Flowers’ mother sat next to her sister, Wednesday morning, and pleaded for someone to come forward with information. She said her daughter recently turned 18 years old in July and was looking forward to getting her diploma.

“Anybody can tell you about her. She’s not bad,” said Flowers. “She don’t mess with nobody. She go to school.”

Detectives said they are evaluating leads but don’t want to release information that might jeopardize the case. “We know people are out there. We know people are talking,” said Miami Police Detective Anthony Reyes. “We need them to come forward. If you cared about her in life, call us now.”

For now, Shannell Flowers continues to ask for the community’s help. “I know somebody knows something, and I know somebody seen something, but ain’t nobody saying nothing,” said Flowers. “I just wish they would turn themselves in because my daughter did not deserve to be gunned down like that. She didn’t.”

If you have any information on this shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
