MIAMI (WSVN) - A somber procession was held, Tuesday, for a City of Miami firefighter fatally shot over the weekend.

Firefighters and police were seen together aiding in the escort of 23-year-old Chadrick Davis’ body to the Ferguson and Hewitt Funeral Home on Tuesday. The body taken from the Medical Examiner’s Office and was driven past numerous local fire stations, where flags were seen at half-mast and firefighters saluting, before arriving to the Ferguson Hewitt funeral home.

Prior to the procession, one firefighter carried the gear Davis proudly wore and placed it into Rescue Two, the fire truck that followed the hearse transporting Davis’ body.

Miami-Dade Police are investigating the drive-by shooting, which happened around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, and killed Davis and 22-year-old Sir Ernest Williams.

The two were returning from a wake that Saturday.

“They were approached by an unknown number of males, who began shooting,” said Miami-Dade Police Detective Jennifer Capote. “We have no description of these males. We do not have possible vehicles. If they did leave in vehicles, we have no information at all.”

The tragedy has left the community and family members heartbroken, but they hope that those responsible will be brought to justice. “Not only was Chad a very good firefighter, but he was also an incredible young man,” said a family friend, “a man that I’ve known since the day he was born.”

Police are continuing to search for those involved in the shooting.

The wake for Davis will be held on Friday, and a funeral will be on Saturday, followed by a burial.
