NORTH MIAMI, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are seeking out the public’s help after an employee was found dead in a North Miami business.
North Miami Police are looking for those responsible for the death of 32-year-old Jose Gonzalez at Mimmo’s Mozzarella Italian Market, on Northeast 123rd Street, near West Dixie Highway. The business supplies cheese and other fine foods to high-end South Florida restaurants.
Gonzalez was found dead around 9 p.m., Wednesday, when the door to the business was found open after closing, and a motorist driving by called police. “A concerned citizen drove by, saw the business still open after hours, so he made a call to us to just check it out,” said North Miami-Dade Police Officer Natalie Buissereth. “Upon arriving, officers discovered the employee on the ground.”
Police have not released the details of Gonzalez’s death. However, they are treating it as a homicide.
The owners of the business are distraught after losing a beloved employee and close friend. “[He was] pretty much just like an angel,” said owner Aliette Weill. “One of the few people that I know that have no flaws. We love him.”
A sign can be seen on the doors of the business that says they won’t be open until Monday.
More than anything, Weill wants the person responsible for Gonzalez’s death to be found.
“If you know anything, you can help us,” said Weill, “and help us keep our place safe for us, for our family, for people who come here.”
If you have any information on this homicide, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
