WSVN — Let’s face it: Men and women tend to have different views on many things, including decorating. Our makeover maestro is working to bring the sexes’ design dreams together in tonight’s Room for Improvement.

Martin Amado: "When it comes to decorating, men and women sometimes have different styles. How do you compromise and make both happy? That’s my challenge on today’s Room for Improvement. Let’s meet the homeowners."

Martin Amado: "So this is Kat and Jay. Tell me what’s going on."

Kat: "So, we just bought a new home. It’s actually a perfect home, and wanted to start off with a breakfast table actually."

Jay: "It’s kinda empty. There’s nothing to sit on."

Martin Amado: "You need comfort, right? And, of course, you need style."

Martin Amado: "OK, so let me see how I can basically mesh these two styles into one warm, inviting space. I’m going to get to work, and then I’ll surprise you at the end!"

Martin Amado: "We’re dealing with a small space, and the first thing that I notice is this intrusive ceiling fan right above what would be the table underneath. It’s the first thing that has to go."

Martin Amado: "I don’t understand why you would have a ceiling fan above a dining table."

Martin Amado: "Now, this light fixture is perfect! It has the bling that Kat likes with the crystals, and a clean, modern style which is the aesthetic that Jay likes."

Martin Amado: "Please don’t leave the panels with all the wrinkles! Go ahead and iron them or steam them. It will look much better at the end, I promise you."

Martin Amado: "These tone-on-tone panels give us just enough pattern for Kat while keeping the background neutral and modern for Jay."

Martin Amado: "The table has geometric shapes that both will appreciate, plus the chrome adds extra sparkle in the space."

Martin Amado: "What can I say? I love these chairs."

Martin Amado: "These chairs are the perfect style for him and her. It’s a simple design, but the nailhead trim makes them look extra special."

Martin Amado: "Cheers! I love the artwork! It keeps the space fun and casual."

Martin Amado: "There we go! It’s all in the details. An otherwise empty space becomes a beautiful highlight."

Martin Amado: "And, the final touch to tie the breakfast nook in with the kitchen space is to use two matching counter stools. I hope Kat and Jay like their new space. Let’s see their reaction."

Martin Amado: "OK, so this morning, the space was empty. Jay, you basically wanted a space to sit down and eat breakfast, and Kat, you wanted a little bit of a glamorous style. OK, so here we go, 1, 2, 2 1/2, 3!"

Jay: "Oh!"

Kat: "Oh, my God! I love it! It’s perfect! Oh, my God!"

Martin Amado: "Has a little bit of sparkle like you wanted. You wanted very simple clean lines, right?"

Jay: "Very beautiful!"

Martin Amado: "So, you guys are happy?! Congratulations on your new house. Enjoy the home, and health and happiness to you both. Thank you so much for letting us do this for you, and remember, there’s more tips online in our Online Extra. We thank you for watching, and we’ll see you next time on another Room for Improvement."
