The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back for round 2, and if you’re going to rely on anyone to save the Earth from destruction, you should leave it in the hands — or is it paws? — of teenagers. Deco’s Chris Van Vliet flew to New York City to chat with the cast of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”

Everyone’s favorite mutated reptiles are back, with their BFF April O’Neil, played by Megan Fox.

Megan Fox: “The turtles are still living in the shadows, still being the heroes that they are, but kind of feeling a little resentful.”

Resentful because the turtles saved New York City in the last movie, but no one knows that. They can’t take credit since, you know, they’re giant mutant turtles who talk.

Instead, they’ve agreed to let their friend Verne, played by Will Arnett, be the hero.

Chris Van Vliet: “So Verne is taking the credit for this. What in your real life do you wish you could take credit for?”

Will Arnett: “There’s so many things I’d like to take credit for. Even like the paper clip would be good, actually.”

Chris Van Vliet: “If you were like the Post-it Notes guy, do you know how rich you’d be?”

Will Arnett: “That would be amazing.”

The movie brings back some favorites from the classic cartoon, like bad guys Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, as well as the mad scientist Baxter Stockman, played by Tyler Perry.

Tyler Perry (as Baxter Stockman): “Which is where you come in.” (evil laugh)

Chris Van Vliet: “Where did you come up with this laugh?”

Tyler Perry: “You know, it just happened one day on set in a scene with Megan. It just happened. and all of the producers and the director were like, ‘Keep the laugh. It’s hysterical, keep the laugh!'”

But this is no laughing matter. The bad guys are all in on a plan that will destroy the Earth! Helping the turtles make sure that doesn’t happen is Stephen Amell as the hockey stick-wielding Casey Jones.

Stephen told Deco he did all of his own stunts.

Stephen Amell: “That’s kind of my thing, you know what I mean? And by my thing I mean Tom Cruise’s thing. (laughs) But it’s just sort of my thing.”

Well, he did almost all of them.

Stephen Amell: “They wouldn’t let me do one thing.”

Chris Van Vliet: “What was the one thing?”

Stephen Amell: “It was a ratchet shot, and I get basically catapulted into a car, and I didn’t want to do it, nor would they let me do it.”

And that right there is expected to be this weekend’s box office champ. So the Mutant Ninja Turtles will be taking down the mutants of the X-Men.
