"Empire" is going to be a lot different when it returns Wednesday… there’s going to be backstabbing, betrayal, and lots of awesome music. Wait, that’s exactly what it always is and exactly why we love it!

Fox’s hit show "Empire" which is about a music mogul and his dysfunctional family — finally comes off its three-month hiatus on Wednesday.

Stars Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon, and Kaitlin Doubleday, who plays Rhonda Lyon dishing about the show’s season two spring premiere.

Kaitlin Doubleday: "Lucious doesn’t have Empire when we come back and there are some unlikely alliances that come back. Rhonda actually starts working for Lucious and for Camilla which is very strange."

But that’s not all. In the last episode, a very pregnant Rhonda gets pushed down the steps of her mansion — so the obvious cliffhanger, does she die?

Kaitlin Doubleday: "I feel like I’m not giving too much away because we do see in the previews for next season Rhonda sort of scraping her way across the floor a bloodied mess. So we know that I’m not dead and obviously I’m here… I would be at home crying and like cursing ‘Empire’ if I was dead."

So, Rhonda survives, but what about the Lyon family?

Jussie Smollett: "We get back to what we do best, which is the family and I keep saying in the first part of the second season, we kind of had to break up, so to speak, because to show just how broken we were."

Although everyone is still fighting in the premiere episode… eventually the family finds common ground.

Jussie Smollett: "This part of the season is really about Lucious and Cookie joining together to try to piece their family back together because we’re so, so broken."

Just because everyone’s kissing and making-up… doesn’t mean the drama stops there.

Jussie Smollett: "There does come a point where… there is a scene, later on in the season, that is probably one of the greatest scenes that we’ve shot this entire series and it really is a moment where without giving away too much, the family comes to that final understanding, if you will."

The wait is almost over — "Empire" returns Wednesday night at 9 p.m., right here on 7.
