MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Comic book lovers are coming together in big numbers this Fourth of July weekend at the largest comic convention in South Florida.
The crowds flocking to the 2016 Florida Supercon at the Miami Beach Convention Center were so large that admission tickets for Saturday completely sold out.
The show, now in its 11th year, features tons of special guest actors, creators and comic book crew members. “The crowds are always great, you know,” said “Star Trek: The Next Generation” actor Michael Dorn. “They’re always wonderful, and great to be around and big fans, as you can see.”
Participants, many in costume, got the chance to attend Q-and-As with the stars. There are plenty of other activities, contests and shopping, as well.
“We’re in a professional cosplay area. It’s amazing,” said attendee Paul Mathos, who dressed up as Marvel superhero Captain America. “We got Hulk doing his thing right here. It’s a great time. This is an amazing event.”
Florida Supercon is one of the largest “comic-cons” in the Southeastern U.S. It will be open through Monday.
