BRENTWOD, Cal. (WSVN) — Students from a California high school honored their school resource officer them with a surprise that would make any South Florida sports fan jealous.

The students performed a surprise flash mob for their resource officer, Mitch Brouillette, and also got him a couple of special presents.

“Hey, Officer Mitch, I’m not in trouble,” one student said. “We just wanted to show you how much we appreciate you.”

It’s a celebration worthy of a viral video. Students from Heritage High School in Brentwood, California gave a unique thank you to a beloved school resource officer.

“He like gets down to our level, and he is like a friend,” said Gogo.

Brouillette walks a fine line between authority and friend to the student body. And he said he enjoys every minute.

“I want them to know me as a person, so I treat them with respect, but they gotta give respect back,” said Brouillette.

“One time he helped me out last year with my anger problems, and I was struggling so hard in school,” Daylen said. “How he helped me, we actually worked out in the weight room, and that helped me relieve stress.”

So the students decided to give back, presenting officer Mitch with a flash mob to the song “Downtown” by his favorite singer Macklemore.

They also came bearing gifts straight outta South Florida. “We know you love Miami Heat so we got you some tickets,” said one student.

And a Dan Marino jersey.

The celebration ended with a rousing chant for their favorite police officer, Officer Mitch: “We believe that Mitch is great! We believe that Mitch is great!” they chanted.

The gifts and video all come compliments of the DUDE. be nice clothing company.
