HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - A woman is in police custody after she allegedly went on a drunken vandalizing spree in Downtown Hollywood, early Monday morning.

Hollywood Police said surveillance video footage captured 29-year-old Vanessa Umana in the act, smashing storefronts, between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., along Hollywood Boulevard, near Dixie Highway.

Umana was taken into custody at placed behind bars at the Broward County Jail, Monday afternoon, and has been charged with four counts of felony criminal mischief.

According to GoBistro Sushi Restaurant owner Vernon Pless, Umana flipped over multiple tables and caused a mess at his restaurant. “I mean I got a call this morning from one of the owners saying that we had been vandalized,” he said. “I just saw the video for the first time right now, and it’s pretty upsetting knowing that we have to come in here and clean up before even starting our day, so I hope they catch them, and I hope justice is served.”

They hope to have GoBisto Sushi’s front door replaced by the end of the day.

Several business owners believe Umana may have been kicked out of a nearby bar, which is what sparked her rampage.

She hit at least two other restaurants on the same block. “I couldn’t even open my restaurant,” said one of the two other restaurant owners affected by her rampage. “It’s very sad.”

According to detectives, they found Umana only a few blocks away, after residents of a nearby apartment complex called 911 to report an injured woman who was passed out on the sidewalk. “I asked her, I said, ‘Are you OK?’ because she had cuts on each arm and had her arm wrapped,'” said Richard Testerman, who dialed 911.

Umana told police she had been drinking and didn’t remember how she had hurt herself.

No one was injured during the violent spree besides Umana, who reportedly bled after she smashed the storefronts. Store owners reported having to clean up blood off of tables and floors, in the early hours of Monday.

None of the business owners reported any theft, but are glad to see police caught a suspect in this case.
