OPA-LOCKA, FLA. (WSVN) - A juvenile is due in court, Wednesday, after police said, he and two others led police officers on a chase in Northwest Miami-Dade.

According to investigators, the subjects were riding in a stolen Mercedes-Benz sedan when they were spotted by police officers in the area of Northwest 95th Street and 22nd Avenue, Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcers began to follow the vehicle without giving chase as they waited for an aviation unit. At around Northwest 143rd Street, police turned on their lights and sirens, and the chase got underway.

However, the trio would only be on the run from the law for less than three minutes. 7Skyforce HD hovered above the white vehicle as the car darted through rush hour traffic eastbound on State Road 9 and tried to outrun several police cruisers. At around 5:30 p.m., when the subjects slowed down to turn around on Northwest 22nd Avenue, and that’s when two police officers with their guns drawn surrounded the car.

Skyforce HD captured Opa-locka and Miami-Dade Police officers pulling out the front seat passenger, identified as 18-year-old Kelly Jackson. Next up was the back seat passenger, 16-year-old Dequwon King. Finally, officers pulled out the driver, 18-year-old Armend Jefferson. They were handcuffed and taken away.

Inside the Mercedes, police found a shotgun and a handgun. Police temporarily shut down the turn lanes to head northbound on Northwest 22nd Avenue as they investigated.

No one was hurt.

All three suspects are facing weapons charges. Jefferson is facing an additional charge of grand theft auto.

This was the second police chase that took place in Miami-Dade County, Tuesday. At around 10 a.m., two motorcyclists led police on a chase after, investigators said, one of them struck a police cruiser near the entrance to the Florida Turnpike in Homestead. Both men were later apprehended.
