WILTON MANORS, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida woman is expected to recover after, officials said, she was pulled from a burning car in Wilton Manors, Wednesday afternoon.

According to relatives, 55-year-old Gloria Walker was riding in the car with two family members when the flames broke out near the 900 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue, just before 1 p.m. Officials said the other passengers pulled her from the vehicle and ran for help.

Walker’s niece told 7News they had just picked up the car from a mechanic when the driver noticed smoke. “He stopped the car because he’s thinking this was like the battery or something, and then he lifts the hood, and then the car, like, smoke and fire start coming,” said Candice Vincent.

Walker was transported to Broward Health Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation. She is expected to be OK.
