POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a man died after scuba diving off a South Florida beach.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports in a news release that deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the beach for a possible drowning call Tuesday night. They found 52-year-old Douglas Jones unresponsive.

The release says Jones was taken to a Fort Lauderdale hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives don’t suspect foul play, but an investigation continues.
