MIAMI (WSVN) - In Miami, using a rideshare app like Lyft or assigning a designated driver is crucial when going out. Yet, drunk driving accidents still occur. That is why Lyft has partnered with Budweiser in hopes of combating drunk driving — for good.

On Wednesday, Lyft announced that from this week until the end of 2016, passengers who are 21 and up can get a free ride (up to $10) on weekends and holidays in Florida, New York, Illinois and Colorado.

“Because everyone deserves a designated driver, even if you’re on a tight budget,” Lyft said in a release.

The promotion is a part of Budweiser’s #GiveADamn campaign, marking the first time a ridesharing app has ever joined forces with a beer company.

“At Lyft, we strive to partner with like-minded, mission-driven brands like Budweiser that are committed to building safer communities and a better world,” said Oliver Hsiang, VP Partnerships at Lyft.

“By giving passengers access to free rides each week, we hope everyone will think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking and look to Lyft as a solution.”

The free rides are redeemable from 10 p.m. up until 2 a.m., on weekend nights.
