MIAMI (WSVN) - A Florida Fish and Wildlife officer made a big reptile rescue after finding a turtle caught in a lobster trap off Key Largo.
Officer Chris Mattson responded to the call about a 300-pound green turtle that a family found caught in the trap.
With the family’s help, Mattson muscled the giant reptile onto his patrol boat and brought it to the turtle hospital in Marathon.
The turtle had a trap line embedded in its front flippers.
Veterinarians said the turtle will make a full recovery.
