TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a 31-year-old former middle school teacher is accused of giving a student a cellphone and asking her to send nude photos and videos to other students.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Michael Geist was arrested Monday night.
According to investigators, Geist gave the phone to the girl in April. In May, staff members at Rogers Middle School were informed of the allegations and contacted the sheriff’s office.
Investigators say Geist also asked the girl to take sexually explicit pictures of herself.
When the investigation began, Geist resigned from this job. Deputies seized the cellphone as evidence.
He is charged with lewd or lascivious conduct. He bonded out of jail early Tuesday. An attorney wasn’t listed on jail records.
