HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews are working to contain a significant gas leak in Hallandale Beach, near Gulfstream Park area.
Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue received a call reporting the smell of gas, between Fifth and Ninth streets, along South Federal Highway, Monday, at around 2:30 p.m. Crews located a natural gas leak and have shut down the area.
City officials initially said Federal Highway would reopen at around 10 p.m., but the roadway is not expected to reopen until Tuesday morning.
Residents are urged to avoid the area until further notice.
