POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - The Broward Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 15-year-old accused of stealing a car with a 1-year-old baby in the back seat.
According to police, on July 25, Devin Heath carjacked a Toyota Camry parked at a 7-Eleven, located along the 2300 block of N. Dixie Highway. Approximately 20 minutes later, police found the car abandoned in the middle of a dark roadway, near Northwest Second Avenue with the keys still in the ignition and the baby boy in the back seat.
The baby was still in his car seat and appeared to be unharmed, according to police.
Heath was arrested, Wednesday, and faces charges for grand theft, larceny, burglary of a conveyance and abuse of a child without bodily harm.
Police believe Heath was operating as part of a “four-man team.” Therefore, subsequent arrests are expected.
The investigation is ongoing.
