Experiencing new spices and tastes is one of the most exciting thing about living in the 305. And now you can get to know Persian spices and tastes with the help of a Wynwood newcomer.

Middle Eastern food has a monthly spotlight in the Magic City.

Sara Liss, Saffron Supper Club: "We felt like there was no place to get really good Persian food, and Middle Eastern food in a high-end setting that would really do the food justice."

So Sara Liss and Chef Maude Eaton put together the Saffron Supper Club.

Sara Liss: "Each time we collaborate with different chefs, and so it’s a unique experience for the diners as well, ’cause it’s always a surprise where we’re gonna be."

This month, they’ll be at the new Wynwood Yard.

Danielle Jonas Heimen: "Wynwood Yard is an all-day hangout space in Wynwood, and it’s a space where you can come and engage all day in really fun, cultural and community activities."

From the free Wi-Fi, to the yummy food and cocktail vendors and pop-ups, the yard is perfect for a hangout, or a supper.

Sara Liss: "Each dinner has a different theme that we explore. For this meal, we’re calling it Open Sesame, and we’re looking at the sauce, tahini or tahina, and it’s the Middle Eastern mother sauce. Each dish will incorporate tahini in some way, and we’re also having a tahini bar where each guest can make and mix their own tahini and take it home with them to enjoy."

Maud’s stellar Persian rice will make an appearance, too.

Sara Liss: "In the rice, there are dried cherries, apricots, saffron, and it’s called Zereshk Polow, and it’s traditionally served in Persian weddings to symbolize the flowers and sweetness of the wedding union."

Also, three of Wynwood Yard’s culinary concepts are participating. The Arabian Knife food truck will serve a tabouleh and falafel platter. Dim Ssäm à Gogo will serve the cumin lamb chops. And Della Test Kitchen has this deconstructed Mediterranean bowl.

Sara Liss: "The event is Sunday, Jan. 24. It starts at 5:30 with a cocktail hour, and then we’re going to have a seated dinner where we’ll be eating dishes from the different culinary personalities here at the Wynwood Yard."

So enjoy the food, and don’t forget to say cheers in Persian.
