So this year I hosted Mother’s Day. Mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends whose moms live elsewhere all came over to my place for a beach BBQ. 25 people!! I love hosting but if you’ve ever thrown a party you know it takes work and at the end you’re exhausted. The next day I slept until noon and woke up still in the mood for breakfast, even though it was lunchtime, and not wanting to lift a finger.

Enter Green Eggs Cafe in Aventura. I made a quick call and asked if they were still serving breakfast the response music to my ears “we serve breakfast all day”. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the time I arrived I was so hungry I didn’t know if I wanted sweet or savory so I ordered both. The breakfast burrito ($13) was super sized and tasty served on black beans and topped with avocado, sour creme and tomatoes. There was a key lime pancake special ($13) that day and I was intrigued so I tasted those too. The “pancakes” were sliced in triangles more like pizza slices and 3 came in the stack. They were green, they were tart, dripping in a key lime sauce with white chocolate chips floating in the sauce. Then there was the creme’ brulee french toast ($13) as beautiful as it was deeee-licious. Challa bread french toast, on berry compote, drizzled with a vanilla bean sauce, and topped with a homemade chantilly creme served with blueberries and strawberries. I told myself I would only have a few bites. HA!!!!! I love it when I do that. I almost ate the whole thing and took home the little bit that was leftover. It sat in the fridge for a few days and then I ended up throwing it away out of calorie guilt. But don’t worry Green Eggs Cafe I’ll be back for more. You had me at “we serve breakfast all day”.
