(WSVN) - Benedict Cumberbatch was great in “Star Trek: Into Darkness” and is an amazing Sherlock Holmes. But now his career is taking a “Strange” turn. Deco’s strangest reporter, Chris Van Vliet, is here with a look.

Hey, my mom says strange is a good thing! And in this movie, it’s a great thing. “Doctor Strange” is the latest superhero movie from Marvel, but this is a superhero unlike any you’ve ever seen!

Benedict Cumberbatch is Dr. Stephen Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch: “He is arrogant to the point of being unlikable, but somehow you should still like him. He’s got a great deal of charm.”

Dr. Strange is one of the top neurosurgeons in the world, but a car crash limits the use of his hands, which are pretty important when you’re a surgeon.

And Doctor Strange goes a little crazy looking for a cure .

His search leads him to a healer named “The Ancient One,” played by Tilda Swinton, who opens his mind up to a completely different world.

Tilda Swinton (as The Ancient One): “What if I told you the reality you know is one of many?”

Tilda Swinton: “The ancient one was irresistible to me. I didn’t know Dr. Strange. I didn’t know the comics, but the way it was described to me was just tantalizing.”

This movie is one part “The Matrix” and one part “Inception” — with mind-bending visuals.

Benedict Cumberbatch: “It’s extraordinary to step into all of these environments, even the environments at the beginning of the film. The surgeries were so detailed, accurate.”

Benedict Cumberbatch (as Dr. Stephen Strange): “How do I get from here to there?

Tilda Swinton (as The Ancient One): “How did you become a doctor?”

Benedict Cumberbatch (as Dr. Stephen Strange): “Study and practice? Years of it.”

Just like other movies in the Marvel Universe, the cast is incredible. Joining Cumberbatch and Swinton are Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams.

Rachel McAdams: “Being able to work with all of those amazing actors just raises the stakes and, I think, allows the audience to buy into things more and suspend their disbelief.”

Tilda Swinton (as The Ancient One): “You wonder what I see in your future? Possibility.”

But unlike other Marvel films, this one is very cerebral, really making you think from beginning to end.

Benedict Cumberbatch: “By the end of this film he’s a superhero, and we all know that’s quite an onerous task.”

Jeez! Spoiler alert there, Benedict!

In the comics, “Doctor Strange” is one of the Avengers, so keep an eye out for him in the next “Avengers” movie, called “Infinity War,” which comes out in 2018.

“Doctor Strange” opens in U.S. theaters on Friday, Nov. 4.
