New York, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, St. Barths, St. Tropez and now, finally, Miami Beach. Bagatelle, the restaurant known as much for its party atmoshpere as its food, is popping champagne corks in the 305. Adding a Bagatelle to the beach is like adding peanut butter to your jelly. A perfect match.
Bagatelle is mainly a modern French restaurant and the menu reflects that.
The meal started with the “Tartare de Thon Bagatelle” Ahi Tuna Tartar
($19) which is served with taro chips. Let’s just say thank goodness it comes with extra chips right out of the gate cuz I would have needed more chips to scoop every last bit of that tuna, avocado, lime vinaigrette goodness. Because 1 black truffle dish is never enough I ordered 2:
Gnocchi Truffles a la Parisienne ($24) and Pizza a la Truffe ($22). Each was more divine than the next. The black truffle pizza crust was sooooo thin eating it almost felt guilt free (almost!) A Snapper de FloridE (that’s FloridA in French) en Papillote ($33) wrapped up the meal beautifully. It was just tres’ magnifique!
Bagatelle is over the top, lively, and wonderfully entertaining. It may have just opened but it’s already slammed. On a recent Saturday night the bar was buzzin’ and the tables tapped out. As the night goes on the restaurant starts to perculate. The music gets louder, the lights change colors to the beat and everybody is jammin’ in their seats to the dj’s excellent mix, even the servers are down with it. During the evening there are what I like to call “Big Baller Champagne Show” moments. You know, a big table orders a few bottles of the good stuff and the Bagatelle peeps put on a show. The bottles of champagne are paraded through the restaurant with sparklers while somebody shoots fog out of a cannon. It’s like being in a nightclub only this is dinner!!! And it’s great!!!! The restaurant may be debaucherous and fun but make no mistake the food here is exceptional. Bienvenue Bagatelle. It’s about time you joined our party!
