POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a triple shooting in Pompano Beach that injured a local rapper, who streamed his transport to the hospital on social media.
Koly P, whose given name is Mike Lee, live streamed his Saturday night ambulance ride on Instagram.
Monday morning he was out of the hospital and on his way to Tampa for a performance later in the night.
BSO officials were called to the area of Hammondville Road and Northwest 16th Avenue, just before 8 p.m., Saturday, after three people were shot.
One was later identified as Koly P.
Zeke Kolyon, the victim’s manager, said his client was with several other men hanging outside a barber shop when a black car pulled up and someone inside opened fire on the men and took off.
The victims were all transported to Broward Health North. One of whom was transported by a friend. He was treated and released, but the other man was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, but Kolyon noted that Koly P was a rising star on the Broward rap scene and some resented that.
“He got diamonds in his mouth, he got a diamond ring, he got a diamond chain,” said Kolyon, speaking over the phone. “You know, he’s diamond out.”
The manager also noted the rapper also gives to the community. “He buys the kids toys,” he said. “All Thanksgiving last year, he gave out, I think, 500 turkeys, so there’s some people who’s gonna love that and some people gonna hate it.”
Deputies said a shooter has not been apprehended.
