Florida International University has hired Butch Davis as its head coach, according to ESPN.
The former University of Miami coach will leave ESPN to become the Panthers’ fifth head coach. Davis is expected to sign a 5-year-deal.
Davis was the head coach of the Hurricanes for six seasons, from 1995 to 2000, before leaving for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns.
He last coached in college at the University of North Carolina, in 2010.
