Délicieux, charmant, comfortable. That’s delicious, charming and cozy to you and me just like Bistro Cassis, the new eatery that just opened in Midtown Miami. If you’re a lover of French food, or just good food, then add this spot to your list of must tries.

The menu at Bistro Cassis is extensive and features some French classics. We sampled some of their greatest hits none of which disappointed. We got things started with a salad chevre ($13) mixed greens, roasted beets, candied walnuts, lavender honey dressing and pieces of crispy goat cheese. Like mussels? You’ve got 5 different styles to choose from, including the classic mariniere ($19) made with white wine and fresh herbs. Make sure you save a piece of the warm bread they bake in house at Bistro Cassis to dip into the sauce. The terrine de foie gras ($18) served with toast tips and a balsamic reduction, the New York strip steak frites ($34), the sole meuniere ($26) pan seared in a lemon butter sauce all taste like you’re in the South of France not South Florida. But for me the “pie’ce de re’sistance” had to be the poulet alsacienne ($23) a roasted chicken breast, with smoked bacon bits, kale, homemade spaetzle in a shallot cream sauce. It had to be one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had. The “poulet” was so juicy the whole dish just melted in your mouth with every bite. The crepe suzette finale complete with the Grand Marnier fire presentation was orange sweet, savory perfection.

The food tastes authentic. The place looks authentic. Vive la France at Bistro Cassis.
