SUNRISE, FLA. (WSVN) - Although a Sunrise homeowner fatally shot one of three suspects who broke into his home, Monday morning, two of the arrested suspects are now being charged with murder.

According to the Sun Sentinel, an armed homeowner, 31-year-old Warren Darlow, opened fire at around 11 a.m., after he found three suspected burglars inside of his residence. He shot one of them, 21-year-old Albert Eugen Jones, who later succumbed to his injuries at Broward Health Medical Center.

The two other accomplices, 23-year-old Jose Demon Coleman and 26-year-old Curtis Jefferies, fled the scene. However, they were both quickly apprehended by police.

Late Monday night, Coleman and Jefferies were booked into the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.

As of Tuesday, both men are accused of murder while engaged in a felony offense, among other charges.

According to the Sentinel, “Florida law allows for someone to face murder-related charges if they are accused of a felony during which someone dies.”

The investigation is ongoing.
