DENVER (AP) – The Miami Marlins have activated catcher Jeff Mathis from the 15-day disabled list. He is available to play in the series opener against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

In a corresponding move the Marlins designated catcher Jhonatan Solano for assignment.

Mathis, 32, broke his right hand early in the season and was placed on the disabled list April 13. He had just six plate appearances in five games while serving as the backup catcher.

Solano, 29, batted .050 in 20 games in his first season with the Marlins.
