AMARILLO, Texas (WSVN) — After a little boy’s police officer father passed away, he was nervous to attend his first day of school, but his father’s coworkers didn’t let him go alone.

According to Fox 8 News, the 4-year-old boy lost his father, Amarillo Police officer Justin Scherlen, this year, making his first day of school extremely difficult.

But as he walked into his school, he was surprised to find police officers who worked with his father waiting for him with open arms and big smiles.

The little boy then received a warm hug from each one of the officers. This raised his spirits so much, that he even high fived a couple of the police officers! It was certainly a day to remember.
