Thanksgiving is three weeks from tonight. And this November it’s not the only game in town. Here’s Shireen Sandoval with tonight’s deco bites – Thanksgivikkuh edition.
Thanksgiving and Hannukah almost never overlap, but they do this year. So what do you get when you mix a drumstick and a dreidel? Thanksgivukkah.
This year Thanksgiving and the first day of Hannukah fall on the same day a very rare occurrence.
RACHEL GEBAIDE: “The last time it happened was in 1888 and it’s not set to happen again for another 70,000 years.”
Rachel Gebaide of Tastebuds Catering in Davie wasn’t the first to notice Thanksgivukkah.

RACHEL GEBAIDE: “We offer a fantastic Thanksgiving meal so we said you know what better way to incorporate Thanksgivukkah then to come up with some really great recipes that would blend the two holidays together.”
RACHEL GEBAIDE: “During Hannukah the major theme of the food is frying.”
From pumpkin fritters with currry aioli to Thanksgiving themed latkes.
DIANA RODRIGUEZ: “This is our sweet potato latkes with a marshmallow puff and a raspberry sauce.”
These little dumplings have a hebrew name.
CHRIS GEBAIDE: “These are Sufganiyot, but if you prefer it’s like a jelly donut. We stuff it with a cranberry and pineapple relish.”
Stuff it and voila, nothing beats stuffing.
Sizzle up some celery onion and sage add water, butter, bread crumbs and it’s stuffing. But not for long.
CHRIS GEBAIDE: “We’re making you know pancakes out of them and then we’re frying them.”
Check out the sage stuffing latkes, yum. Tastebuds can cater your whole feast or buy each dish a la cart. But do it fast coz Thanksgivukkah won’t be back ’til the year 1900 and something.
CHRIS GEBAIDE: “Our prices might go up by then. But we guarantee that the food will still be delicious.”
Tastebuds Catering is off State Road 84 in Davie. Turkey with all the trimmings, salad and desert is $25 a person 10 person minimum. Thanksgivukkah side items are sold separately either alone or with the meal.
