FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — Naval officers were on a musical mission as they visited sick children during Fleet Week.

Officers paid a visit to Broward Health Children’s Hospital, Tuesday, to play some music for the children there. "They took their time and came to talk to the kids, and it made me feel special," said patient Ryan Charles Antowine.

Officers sang and played instruments for the children. "Music is a universal language," said naval officer Trevor Shifflett. "We try the best we can to just expand that happiness and overcome sadness."

During Fleet Week, hundreds of sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen participate in recreational activities, professional demonstrations and community service projects.
