NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - The sister-in-law of a man who was shot in an apparent road rage shooting is speaking out after her family member drove to her house in Northwest Miami-Dade to seek treatment.

Patricia Torres said she was on the phone with her brother-in-law when he was shot while driving in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue near 78th Street, just before noon, Tuesday.

“While we was talking on the phone, I heard gunshots, and then, he said, ‘Oh, somebody cut in front of me and started shooting me,'” Torres said. “I said, ‘Can you drive? Keep driving. Keep driving.’ I told him not to stop.”

Torres said her brother-in-law drove his white Mercedes-Benz seven minutes to her home after, police said, he was shot in a case of road rage. The victim told officers he was cut off by a blue Nissan, and a passenger inside of the car opened fire and sent bullets flying into his SUV.

“We feel horrified,” Torres said. “Five bullets, oh, my God, the car– straight into the car, inside the seat belt, everything.”

Torres added her brother-in-law was struck twice and has returned home from the hospital, but he is living in fear.

“He’s scared. He doesn’t want to come out because he’s petrified,” Torres said. “He’s like, ‘No, I’m scared.'”

Torres said she is focused on helping her brother-in-law recover from the shooting and hopes someone can find the person who nearly took his life.

“Thank God that nothing more serious happened, but he could have been killed yesterday,” she said.
