MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - A pair of drivers collided after one of them made a wrong turn onto a ramp, but after sideswiping an SUV, officials said, one of the drivers crashed into a barrier before taking off on foot.

The crash took place on a ramp off the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the Golden Glades Interchange, just before 5 a.m., Wednesday.

“Thank God I’m still alive,” the victim said. “I was driving. For some reason, there was a guy that was driving on the wrong way of the street, and he just hit me. I thank God that, you know, I tried to avoid him, but he hit me on the right side. I’m pretty safe, thank God.”

Cameras captured the moment Miami-Dade Road Rangers reported to the scene.

One ranger could be seen talking to the driver of a pickup truck when he suddenly took off in the wrong direction of the southbound I-95 entrance ramp off U.S. 441.

The truck was missing a wheel, which resulted in sparks flying as the driver sped away. He then crashed into a median before taking off on foot, leaving the keys inside.

“This is Florida,” the victim said. “This happens everyday. The people don’t care. People do whatever they want to do, you know? They hit you and then run away.”

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are trying to track down the driver of the pickup truck.
