FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - With a Hurricane Warning in effect for Broward County, the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Fort Lauderdale provided storm supplies at discount prices, Wednesday.

Customers picked up storm shutters from the store on West Broward Boulevard the day before the hurricane’s effects are expected to hit the area. For some, it wasn’t their first time.

“I’ve been here three days in a row. We have two different houses,” one customer, Luz, said.

Nancy Daly from Habitat for Humanity said they were doing everything they could to help residents prepare.

“It looks like we’re going to get this storm and everybody needs to get prepared,” Daly said.

Some customers decided to make due with shutters that don’t even fit their homes.

“People are buying shutters that are too large and they’re cutting them dow, or they’re putting them up too large. It doesn’t hurt to put up a larger shutter,” Daly said.

“Wonderful prices, they have the aluminum, the galvanized steel. They even have the plastics, and they have great service,” Luz said.

A line has stretched out of the store’s doors since Wednesday morning.

“We’re definitely helping a lot of people out. They’re coming in with their measurements, and we’re helping them figure out what they need and helping them protect their property,” Daly said.

The store will close at 7 p.m., Wednesday, and then they will decide whether to open Thursday depending on the forecast.
