FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews came to the rescue of six passengers after two boats collided off Fort Lauderdale, sending one of them to the hospital.

Fort Lauderdale Police, Fire Boats and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene about six miles off Port Everglades, Saturday afternoon.

One boater was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with minor injuries. Several others were thrown in the water but were not hurt.

“The three guys in the back, they jumped out of the back at the last minute … and I went down,” said Steve Nale, the captain of one of the boats. “I was up top on the tower, and I went down with the tower into the water. We’re on a good team. Thank God everybody’s alive.”

One of the vessels was so badly damaged that it sank.
