MIAMI (WSVN) - The largest Haitian music festival in the United States took place in Downtown Miami, Saturday.
Thousands came out in the colors of Haiti’s flag for the 18th annual Haitian Compas Festival, held at Bayfront Park.
Revelers ate Haitian food, listened to live music and showed pride for the Caribbean country. “Pretty much everybody’s family, so I just wanted to come out here and see what it’s like,” said a participant.
“We’ve been fighting for independence for this flag, so we come to celebrate this flag,” said another attendee.
Billboard Magazine ranked the Haitian Compas Festival among the best live music entertainment events in the U.S.
