SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A homeowner is hoping the public will help authorities locate the man responsible for stealing furniture off her front porch last week.

The Southwest Miami-Dade resident released surveillance video that shows a man spending nearly an hour and a half, in the early morning hours of Aug. 5, hauling couches, tables and wall art from the front porch of her home.

Now, the homeowner is hoping someone can help police identify the thief. “It’s scary,” she said. “To be honest with you, it’s completely unsettling.”

The man is seen wearing a bucket hat, T-shirt and shorts, but it’s a clearly visible tattoo that might give him away. “He has a tattoo that has what looks to be a sun on his right elbow,” the homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said. “Scruffy looking, has a goatee kind of look.”

The thief cleared nearly everything from the porch, getting away with about $3,500 worth of furniture and art.

The homeowner said her neighbors have come forward with their own stories of porch furniture being stolen. They are now sharing their own surveillance footage with police so that the thief can be caught before a robbery turns violent.

“To be honest with you, it’s not what you stole, it’s this is a neighborhood, where families live, and we don’t want someone to get hurt next time,” said the homeowner.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance footage, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
