MIAMI (WSVN) - Miami-Dade Police officers were able to detain a defendant who took off running from a Miami-Dade County courthouse, Tuesday.

According to Miami-Dade Police, 21-year-old Yakevis Jones was in court at the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, Tuesday, for a hearing.

Once a judge ordered him to be taken into custody, Jones took off from the courtroom and even made to outside. Once outside, he took off running towards the State Attorney’s Office.

The subject made it all the way to the Metrorail train station, located along Northwest 14th Street and 12th Avenue, before he was caught and taken into custody.

Officers transported him back to the courthouse in handcuffs.

Jones will now most likely face additional charges.
