Space cadets of all ages are getting ready. “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” blasts into theaters Friday. The cast of the space saga got together in LA over the weekend for the premiere. Let’s just say that the pre-launch gala was a smashing success.

The stars of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hit the red carpet Saturday in a galaxy not so far away: Hollywood.

Diego Luna, plays Jyn Erso: “It’s a story of a group of rebels trying to steal the plans to the Death Star.”

There are a lot of surprises this time around in the first standalone “Star Wars” movie.

Several of the film’s stars came out for the big event.

Felicity Jones stars as reluctant Rebel fighter Jyn Erso, who is charged with stealing the plans to the newly uncovered Death Star.

Gareth Edwards, Director: “There’s a lot of pressure making this film, obviously, but what’s really weird is that the second you turn up on set, there’s like an X-Wing sitting there and there’s storm troopers and it just takes you back to that feeling you have when you’re a little kid and it’s like very comforting. It’s more comforting than the real world.”

And speaking of storm troopers and X-Wings, the Hollywood Walk of Fame — graced by the ultimate star fighter — an X-Wing landing smack in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard.

And it wouldn’t be a “Star Wars” premiere without the storm troopers who were lined up and booed by guests at the Pantages Theatre. “Rogue One” sets the stage for the later “Star Wars” films.

Mads Mikkelsen, plays Galen Erso: “I think they’re doing a very smart thing bringing it back to having stand-alone films, which is still connected to the universe. You can see it by itself, but you can definitely also recognize things that has to do with the next couple of films.”

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opened this time last year and hit totals of more than $2 billion at the box office. Hollywood is hoping the Force will be strong at the box office this holiday season with this fresh “Star Wars” film.
