Happy Friday, South Florida!
Hopefully everyone had a great week! South Florida got a brief, but very enjoyable taste of Fall through the last few days. What a refreshing change it has been compared to the last few months of high humidity and high heat. And even though this morning we woke up to mild temperatures and a few spotty showers nearby, conditions were still quite comfortable all across South Florida. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, all good things do come to an end, and it looks like our brief taste of Fall will soon be a thing of the past.

While South Florida can expect a few changes in the forecast today, the day will still be a lot like what we’ve experienced in previous days. Mild but comfortable temperatures in the morning will give way to near average temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Rain chances will remain on the lower end despite the fact that we still have a weak front fizzling out nearby. There will be more of an ocean breeze this afternoon, which will keep the risk of rip currents elevated across area beaches. Also worth mentioning, King Tides have returned, so minor saltwater flooding could be an issue across low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tide.

Looking ahead, some changes will be headed our way as we head into the weekend. Tropical moisture is forecast to move into our area this weekend as another weak front drops south across our state. So the pleasant conditions we have been experiencing lately will soon give away to higher humidity, and that could be as early as Saturday. By the latter part of the weekend, more clouds, and a much better chance for showers return to the forecast. And with another front stalling over our area, showers could stick around as we head into the start of the next work week.

In the Tropics, we are tracking westward-moving Tropical Depression 13 in the Caribbean, which is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm (named Julia) by Saturday and then into a category 1 hurricane before making landfall near Nicaragua by the latter part of the weekend. Heavy rain and gusty winds forecast for the northern coast of Colombia before spreading into Central America this weekend where heavy rain could lead to flash flooding and mudslides. This system poses no threat to South Florida or the United States.

Have a great afternoon!
