Following a gorgeous and sun-filled Saturday, the story remains the same this Sunday with lots of sunshine expected paired with low to moderate humidity and a light northerly breeze. Temperatures this morning have been a touch cooler with many locations waking up into the mid 60s, which is very typical for this time of the year. During this afternoon, however, high temperatures will once again be above average by a few degrees into the low to mid 80s.

Temperatures then drop back off to near normal tonight, and some locations may be even cooler but many are still forecast to fall into the mid 60s. Closer to the coast, upper 60s will be more common and low 60s will be possible again farther inland. That’s thanks to clear skies and light winds out of the north-northwest, which blocks the relatively warm ocean waters from influencing our temperatures.

The start of the week will remain nice and quiet overall with high pressure remaining the dominant weather feature. Expect generally sunny skies through Wednesday, besides the occasional spotty shower especially on Wednesday as winds veer out of the east opposed to the north by then. Highs will continue to hover into the low to mid 80s with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s across the mainland and low 70s across the Keys.

This leads up to a late-week storm system, which is currently located over the intermountain West. By Thursday, it is forecast to be near the Mid-Atlantic, bringing rain and snow to the northeastern US. Meanwhile, there is a growing likelihood its trailing cold front reaches and crosses through South Florida. Ahead of the front on Thursday, it will be mostly dry but warm with highs in the mid 80s. Then as the front crosses through Friday morning — based off the latest timing — a few showers will be possible followed by cooler temperatures for next weekend. Since this potential front is still about 5 days away from possibly reaching South Florida, it remains too early to know how exactly it will affect us, but at least expect lower temperatures for next weekend.
