Good morning South Florida!

Please be prepared for a wet and windy week. We are waking up to mostly cloudy skies and dry weather. This afternoon is not looking any better, there will be numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. A few could be strong, capable of producing gusty winds over 50 mph and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Temperature wise, we will stay in the mid to upper 80’s with South winds from 15 to 20 mph. By Tuesday, the winds pick up from 20-25 mph. This will make for rough seas where beach and boating will not be advised. Expect this pattern to continue through the rest of the week as Colin will leave the air unsettled.

Tropical Storm Colin Update:

Colin is expected to make landfall over North Florida tonight. Impacts for South Florida include gusty winds, strong storms with isolated tornadoes possibly through Tuesday morning. Locally heavy rain and flooding potential will also be possible. However, even though the center of Colin will not directly impact South Florida, it’s important for one not to focus on the forecast track because the entire state of Florida.

Please make sure to have your rain gear and plan accordingly for a locally heavy rainfall event this week.

Stay safe, prepared and dry South Florida!
