Good morning South Florida!
We are waking up to partly cloudy skies with some showers and thunderstorms especially in the Florida Keys. However, in Miami-Dade and Broward areas are starting off dry. Expect some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, during the prime heating of the day. As the breeze builds along the coast, this is expected to push the sea breeze showers and thunderstorms inland and favoring Southwest Florida. Temperature wise over the next few days will range from the middle to upper 80’s in the afternoon to upper 70’s overnight. This will be the trend since we are entering into a typical Summer-like pattern of daily afternoon activity and we are going have this pattern in place through Friday.
The forecast the next few days will be a little tricky especially going into Memorial Day weekend with a possible increase in tropical moisture from the Southwest. This is due to an area of clouds and rain located in the Bahamas and stretching into the Caribbean Sea. Most models project that this tropical moisture could drift West into the Florida Peninsula.
Tropical Update:
The area of clouds and rain located near the Bahamas stretching into the Caribbean Sea is also being watched by The National Hurricane Center. Right now it is slowly moving West-Northwest or Northwest. They are suggesting that conditions could become conducive for tropical or subtropical development by Friday. Right now, they are giving this area a medium chance of a 50% to form through the next 5 days.
What does that mean for us in South Florida? If the area of clouds and rain showers gets close enough, we should expect to see more showers and thunderstorms this Memorial Day weekend. It will all depend on how organized it becomes. For now, we have to watch, wait and see what unfolds by the end of the week.

Because this area is getting better organized, the NHC has sent another outlook. Medium chances.. @wsvn pic.twitter.com/09sl5VaR37
